Want to Succeed in Business?

I recently joined the National Association of Woman Business Owners (NAWBO).  In October I had the opportunity to participate in the first annual NAWBO Day.  Breakfast featured a panel of four extraordinary and accomplished women business owners hosted by Maryann Childers. Each woman had valuable information to share and I found myself taking copious notes! I'd like to share with you the Top 10 Business Learning's shared by President & Owner of The Soma Institute, Joan Hannant.

1) Find your passion and turn it into your business.  Be sure to stay true to yourself and connected to that passion.

2)  Build a support of family and friends.  Nobody does it all on their own!

3) Treat failure as an opportunity.  The first three months of Joan's business ended up being a failure that resulted in reinventing her business.  She could have been discouraged by failure but instead took the opportunity to learn from it and start again...this time much more successfully!

4) Run a cash flow report EVERY week and REVIEW it!  It's important to have a good eye on where your money is going.

5) Be slow to hire and fast to fire.

6)  Under promise and over deliver....especially with your banker!

7)  Work on your business, not in your business

8) Read the book Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make Competition Irrelevant by W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne.  (I've personally read this book and agree!)

9) Treat your employees AT LEAST as well as you treat your customers. This will make an awe inspiring shift in your corporate culture.

10)  Develop your next generation of leaders today. That is how you will ensure your continued business success for years to come.
